Hi friends,
See the attached update for some pictures of my recent time in Djibouti! It was a great experience and provided insight about the people and culture there. You will see in the pictures that it is a place of dramatic beauty, but it is also a dry parched land. My last two weeks were spent in the capital city, and many of the people's hearts and attitudes have taken on the harsh, hardened characteristic of their surroundings. There is exciting work going on their and there is hope, but their is much we still need to bring before our Father's throne. Look at the promises below and ask with me that the Father will make these things true throughout the Horn of Africa!
"This is what the LORD says: "In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, to say to the captives, 'Come out,' and to those in darkness, 'Be free!' They will feed beside the roads and find pasture on every barren hill. They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat upon them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water." Isa. 49:8-10
"I tell you, NOW is the time of God's favor, NOW is the day of salvation." IICor. 6:2
blessings,
Leigh
